Great British Bake Off ….. Gairloch Style

Last Saturday was the day of the Gairloch show, so we thought we’d give it a whirl & enter a couple of baked goodies to be judged. There were lots of categories to enter including Fruit & Vegetables, Jams & Preserves, Cakes, Scones, Biscuits, Bread, Floral Displays, Paintings, Needlework, Knitting & Photography.

We made some Hot Cross Buns for the ‘Fancy Bread’ category

A White loaf for the ‘Yeast Cookery’ category

Some Shortbread for the you guessed it ‘Shortbread’ category & some Scones for the surprise surprise ‘Scone’ category

And finally a little embroidered wall hanging for the ‘Needlework’ category

We didn’t do too badly for newbies to the show, the Hot Cross Buns got 1st prize, the white loaf also got 1st prize and the Shortbread got 1st prize too so we were pretty chuffed all in all.

Hopefully next year we’ll be able to enter some vegetables although we don’t expect to win any prizes as the competition is fierce.

    1. Thanks Dave & Sandra. We will defo try & upload some snaps of the garden which, whilst still needing a bit of work, is coming on a treat. Great news on the allotment front which we hope goes well for you. You will have to leave the allotment in reliable watering hands when you pay Wester Ross a visit next June 🙂 All the best. John & Louise.
