Sunshine & Seafood at The Gairloch Highland Gathering

We spent Saturday afternoon at the Gairloch Highland Gathering which is held at Big Sand, Gairloch. It was a beautiful day, the follicly challenged members of the family should have had some sun tan lotion on!!!

We were very happy to see The Seafood Shack there which was pretty popular so we made a rather rapid bee line for the queue. After devouring a portion of Local Langoustines in Garlic Butter and having spied my delicious Crab Cakes a certain someone (not naming any names!) had to go back for more!

The Mordor Gun Dogs were showing us all how to properly train & reward gun dogs. The combination of Labradors & Spaniels were incredibly clever & well behaved. Considerably different to our own spaniel. There were classic cars on display too.

The Gairloch Country Dancers put on a lovely show as well as the fantastic Gairloch & District Junior Pipe Band.

At the end of the Pipers performance the Pipe Master approached the Chieftain where the Pipe band were dismissed.

The beer tent was a welcome site on a warm sunny day. Langoustines & beer the perfect partnership (’tis the new caviar & champagne!!)

A great day was had by all – would have been a bonus to have won the Highland Park Whisky on the raffle but it wasn’t to be.

There have been some fabulous views of the Loch recently. The waters have been shimmering turquoise & silver depending on the light. We managed to take a couple of snaps but wish we had managed to capture it when it was at it’s best. It’s an artists paradise.
